22nd October 2020, Renewcell and Tangshan Sanyou sign landmark deal to produce Circulose® textile-to-textile recycled fibers. In what is an industry first, Swedish fashion recycling innovator Renewcell has reached an agreement with the leading Chinese viscose manufacturer Tangshan Sanyou to supply 175 000 tonnes of Circulose® dissolving pulp recycled 100% from discarded textiles. Circulose® is made from discarded textiles such as production waste and worn-out garments (preferably cotton as it contains a lot of cellulose). Using a breakthrough process powered by 100 percent renewable energy, Renewcell transforms old clothes into the pristine natural Circulose® material that needs no cotton fields, no oil and no trees. Circulose is a branded dissolving pulp product produced from 100 per cent recycled textiles. Our recycling technology transforms high cellulosic waste into pure, natural dissolving pulp, Circulose pulp. It's an efficient process that reuses chemicals, and it's up and running in our first plant in Kristinehamn, Sweden.

Efter flera år av forskning och utveckling lanserades de första plaggen med svenska Renewcells återvunna material, kallat circulose, i mars i år. Det var en del av klädjätten och delägaren H&M:s Renewcell köper in råvara (textil) som sedan förädlas till en massaprodukt kallad “circulose” som därefter används för ny textilframställning. Det handlar om cellulosabaserade material och då bomull är den idag största kategorin så har bolaget valt att optimera mot detta material. Renewcell har utvecklat en egen process för kemisk återvinning av textilier. Resultatet kallar bolaget circulose, ett material som både H&M och Levi's har använt i sina kollektioner under året.
